Social Events with Alpha Phi

Every student at Kent State University understands the importance of their academics and realizes that is their first major priority. At the same time, your college experience is all about enjoying the time you are here with the people who are around you. Although divided into over a dozen different chapters, the Greek community at Kent State University values their time spent together. While promoting scholarship and intellectual development as one of our highest values, we also include various activities throughout the semester in which we promote fun and socializing.

Sisterhood

With hours spent in classes and studying, we feel that it is not only important to socialize with other members of the Greek community, but ultimately socialize and enjoy the company of our sisters. On a monthly basis, we work hard to implement a sisterhood activity into our schedules where we can get together and catch up on what has been going on in each others lives. A trip that we plan annually is a retreat with the fall new member class. The past few years we have went on a camping trip in order to get to know the new member class and begin a lifelong sisterhood with them. Other sisterhood activities include our annual Holiday Party in which our House Corporation Board sponsors a holiday dinner for all of us to gather and acknowledge a “Secret Senior Pal” and enjoy gift exchanges prior to the holiday. Also, last spring we had a BBQ to celebrate the end of the school year.

Formal

Every year, Alpha Phi hosts their “Spring Formal” in which every member is invited to bring a guest and don themselves in an elegant cocktail dress and dance the night away. It is a time in which toast to an excellent year and enjoy the company of one another. This past year, we hosted our Spring Formal at the Hilton Hotel in Akron, Ohio. After a delicious dinner, special awards were given out to outstanding Alpha Phi’s to recognize them for their contributions over the past year and also fun superlatives were given out. The rest of the evening was spent dancing to the sounds of our Sigma Nu DJ, Dominic Parisi.

Date Parties

Highschool cliques, the 70's, and Ponies, Pearls, and Phis, a Kentucky Derby spinoff, have been the most recent themes for our date parties that we host every semester. Members bring along close friends and dates to enjoy the night dressed head to toe in the themed apparel. Often times, our date parties are hosted at local establishments and are always a highlight of the semester.

Socials

Alpha Phi frequently has socials with fraternities in which our chapters get together for fun and entertainment. This is a good way to meet other members of the greek community. Whether it is a bonfire, casino night, or a fun pretend wedding, we always enjoy a night out with the guys.
